Common questions
What counts as a vCPU?
You're billed on the total vCPU capacity of your worker nodes beyond the 30 free vCPUs included with the Free, Startup, and Enterprise plans (Homebuilder includes 500). Rates are €0.01/hr (€7.20/mo) per vCPU on Startup and €0.03/hr (€21.60/mo) per vCPU on Enterprise. For example, 50 worker vCPUs on Startup means 20 billable vCPUs: €0.20/hr, or €144/month.
Are controller nodes billed?
No. Only worker node vCPUs are counted toward billing. Controller nodes are free.
What is an annual commitment?
An annual commitment locks in a 20% lower per-vCPU rate for 12 months - €0.008/hr on Startup and €0.024/hr on Enterprise. You still pay monthly based on actual usage, with no large upfront payment. Enterprise plans require a 12-month commitment.
How does AI pricing work?
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of Ankra-funded AI usage that resets at the start of each calendar month - USD 10 on Free, USD 50 on Startup, USD 200 on Enterprise. You can also set your own daily spend limit. When the allowance runs out, connect your own model provider key and keep going at your provider's rates, or wait for the reset. Usage on your own key is unlimited and never counts against the allowance.
Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?
Yes. Changes take effect immediately and we prorate any billing differences. If you have an annual commitment, the discounted rate applies for the remainder of the term.
What's included in the free tier?
30 vCPU free for life with full platform access. That's enough for about 5 typical clusters, completely free forever.
Do you offer a free plan for homebuilders?
Yes. The Homebuilder plan gives qualifying homebuilders free access to the full Ankra platform for a single user, with 500 vCPU included and a smaller included AI allowance than the paid plans. How are Playground environments priced?
Playgrounds are development and evaluation Kubernetes environments on Ankra-hosted infrastructure, sold as a flat monthly list price per size in EUR, excluding VAT: Small (2 vCPU / 4 GB, 50 GB storage) is €5.21, Medium (4 vCPU / 8 GB, 100 GB) is €8.06, Large (8 vCPU / 16 GB, 200 GB) is €15.19 and Extra large (16 vCPU / 32 GB, 400 GB) is €28.01. Storage is bundled and there are no per-vCPU, per-GB, egress, IP or GPU charges. You are billed pro-rata by the second from the moment the environment is ready until it is destroyed, and the price you order at is your price of record. Every organisation gets one free Trial (1 vCPU / 2 GB, 20 GB storage), which expires when the organisation goes idle. Playgrounds are for development and evaluation only, not production, and are excluded from the SLA.
Does a Playground count against my free 30 vCPU?
No. Playgrounds are priced per size and are excluded from the worker-vCPU metering behind the Free, Startup and Enterprise plans. Your 30 free vCPU stay available for your own clusters, and a paid playground adds only its flat size price to your bill.
